For spring break on a student budget, Mexico is the place to be. Sunny Mexico is always a hot destination for inexpensive travel tours and adventure tours for students, and don’t forget the outstanding beaches!
There are many places to see and explore, like sophisticated Mexico City in the center of the country; coral reefs and archaeological sites in rugged Yucatan Peninsula; the canyons of Monterrey; and swimming in the warm, clear waters of the Pacific Ocean at Puerta Vallarta.
Every region comes with its own unique culture, and there is a host of fun activities geared for students. If you are a beach lover, Cancun, Acapulco, and Salina Cruz are the best options. In fact, the whole southern Pacific coast has some really incredible beaches. Acapulco is where all those celebrities seem to be headed for their private beach excursions, too! Lands near the Caribbean coast were once the home of the Mayan Civilization, and there in Palenque you can visit a 1,300-year-old palace! There are amazing historical and preserved sites throughout Mexico.
Around Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas enjoy surfing, snorkeling, boogy boarding, scuba diving, and kayaking. Rent skadoos and race around the water with friends.
Since this is where many college students choose to visit during the summer there is a lot of tourism infrastructure. This means lots of hostel and hotel deals, resorts, and timeshares. It might be worthwhile to look into the all-inclusive resorts around the more popular beach areas to see if you can get a student discount. Resorts are convenient because you don’t have to plan food, nightlife, activities, and excursions.
In Veracruz, go white water rafting. The main archeological sites are Chichen Itza, Coba, Monte Alban, Palenque, and Calakmul. Take a tour of the sites, explore the historical past, and learn about the ancient civilization of the Mayan people. Head over to the ecological parks at the Mayan Riviera for an adventure tour. The colonial city of Oaxaca is famed for delectable cuisine and the arts. And Teotihuacan has the best pyramids outside Egypt!
