StudentUniverse offers three programs in Australia - Work Abroad Basic, Work Abroad Plus and Work Abroad Pro.
Work Abroad Plus
up to 12 months: $799
Australia Work Abroad Plus includes many of the same services of the basic package, but also includes a week of fun before getting down to work. You’ll be met at the airport, whisked to your hostel in the center of Sydney where you will meet your group and Group Leader. It will be a week of getting to know Sydney, learning lots of important tools you will need to get working in Oz (including meeting our jobs team) and most importantly lots of fun and activities. This is the perfect package for people who are heading abroad to work for the first time. Your job support lasts the entire year, and our team assists with helping you find affordable accommodation once your week of fun is over.
Work Abroad Plus Program Highlights
- Work in your chosen career field in paid employment positions throughout Australia
- Earn a minimum of AUD $16.88 (approx. $13 USD) per hour, with many participants earning as much as $12 to $18 USD per hour

Work Abroad Pro
up to 12 months: $1599
Australia Work Abroad Pro is unique to StudentUniverse and focuses on getting you a job before you even step foot on the plane. Once you apply for Australia Work Abroad Pro, we’ll collect some information from you and start your placement. Once you’re accepted, we will match you with a suitable job, present you with a job offer, and once everything is signed and sealed, get you on your way to Australia for three days of orientation and fun. You’ll then have time to settle in to your optional shared accommodation (enquire for prices - you are also welcome to find your own accommodation), enjoy the weekend and be ready for work on Monday morning.

Australia Work Abroad Basic is our no frills package. We’ll put you up for a week in a centrally located hostel in Australia, an airport transfer, breakfast each day and an introduction to life in Australia. After that, you’ve got the support of our team in Sydney to help you apply for jobs, secure interviews, and find a place to live.

What is living and working abroad in Australia all about?

What are the requirements to live and work abroad?
For all programs you must be:
- between 18-30 in age
- a US citizen
- High School Graduate (must have diploma or equivalent)
- of good character
Are flights included?
Flights are not included with your work abroad program fee, however your StudentUniverse travel services team member can provide a competitive discounted student flight quote.

Do I need a college degree?
No, you do not need a college degree to work in Australia or New Zealand.
How long do the work visas in Australia last?
For Australia and New Zealand, the student work visa lasts one year.
Do I have to stay the entire year?
Not at all! While the visa is valid for a year, you are under no obligation to stay in the country for the entire term.
Can I interview for my job before I leave the US?
Our Australia Work Abroad Pro package is perfect for people who want to secure a job while they are still in the United States. Currently, we are able to offer this service to people interested in the following fields: hospitality, customer service, labor/construction and gardening/landscaping.
Australia Work Abroad Basic and Work Abroad Plus employers will want to meet with you face-to-face while you are in country. Moving overseas without a firm employment offer may seem frightening, but the reality is that thousands of young people participate in working holiday programs around the world each year, and companies build in positions to attract this audience.
What if I can't find a job overseas?
Our Australia work abroad job teams around the world will do everything possible to help you find a job. If you are willing to put in the effort to set up interviews and are flexible with the type of work you’re willing to do, you’ll be working in no time.
Where do I live while I am working abroad in Australia?
Each program includes either five or seven nights accommodation in a centrally located hostel. Following this, our in-country teams will assist you with securing longer term accommodation.
How do taxes work when I work abroad in Australia?
Our job teams will work with you to obtain a tax consultation before you return home. The vast majority of people end up with a sizable tax refund - a nice way to do some traveling on your way back to the States!
